By September 2010, Nossi College of Art and Design had outgrown its “storefront” location and moved into a brand-new facility just north of Nashville. It was designed to be a creative organization for students, faculty and staff. The grand opening was a major culmination of Nossi’s dreams—opening a college to educate the visual artist, exploring students’ artistic possibilities, learning about career opportunities and becoming part of a community’s conversation.
Bachelor of Graphic Arts in Graphic Design
Students will be challenged to experiment with various layouts, split content, hidden navigation, and parallax web design. This course introduces the responsive frameworks, Bootstrap and Foundation. “Everything we do comes from the need of the community,” says Cyrus Vatandoost, Nossi’s son and the college’s executive vice president. Cyrus has worked in almost every department at Nossi College of Art and Design since 1993. With Nossi’s Fixed Tuition Policy, your tuition fee will never increase while you are an active student at Nossi. The Fixed Tuition Policy helps allow for easy budgeting throughout your college career.

Essays to analyze the readings are the method of assessment as well as tests over the readings and background materials. Niche rankings are based on rigorous analysis of key statistics from the U.S. Nossi Vatandoost, an artist listed in Who’s Who of American Women as well as Who’s Who in America, trained in the Middle East and Europe, and taught art in Metro Nashville Schools before opening Nossi College of Art and Design.
LAYOUT DESIGN
You’ll leave here skilled in professional-grade technology and equipped with real-world experience, as well as a portfolio full of finished work to prove yourself to employers. Nossi is the only college in Tennessee designed specifically as an art school. Our new modern campus took three full years from idea to completion because we wanted to get everything just right. Our design and editing labs mimic pro-level labs and are equipped with industry-standard software and tech, and we boast one of the largest instructional photography studios in the region.

Adult Courses
A gained knowledge of packaging’s role in cultural society as well as brand importance will be addressed. Students receive a broad overview that covers essential package design basics, including materials and production methods, structures and surfaces, product positioning, and environmental concerns. Students will explore the theory of aesthetics and design concepts as it applies to graphics. It will also encompass a detailed investigation into the principles and concepts of effective visual communications through the use of two- and three-dimensional design with a goal of creative problem solving. There is also an emphasis in Information Gathering, Step 1 of the Nossi 9 Step Creative Process and commercial application of designing corporate graphics such as logos and symbol designs. Our instructors are professionals in Nashville’s creative community and together have over 1,000 years of professional experience.
By the end of the course, students should feel comfortable designing web content from scratch or editing existing web content regardless of their chosen career path. Summer Youth Camps at Otis College invite young creatives aged 5-14 years to explore art and expression through exciting programs at one of the nation’s top art and design colleges. Our weeklong day camps offer fun opportunities for young artists to discover a variety of mediums.
BUSINESS MARKETING FOR CREATIVES
O-Launch is a weekend of in-person and virtual programs showcasing the future of art and design through the work of Otis College’s talented graduating students. Highlights include the campus-wide Annual Exhibition, the Fashion Show and Industry Night, and the commencement ceremony featuring special guest speakers and honorary degree recipients. Discover diverse and unique neighborhoods, each with its own eclectic art scene featuring creative and stirring local artists – from photographers to designers and musicians to performers. Nossi’s locale is an added bonus for our students to reap inspiration and motivation to create.
Campus and Community
Nossi values her faculty and staff for more than what they bring to the classroom—she values the role they have played in helping her achieve this dream. She readily admits many people helped her along the way, and she has made sure to show her appreciation. “I was really blessed,” she says, listing everyone from her late husband, who encouraged her to open the school, to her first graduates, whom she remembers by name and career. Students will also study various type families, become familiar with the terminology and practice the art of hand lettering. Students will learn the art of designing with type and become familiar with different ‘moods’ or the feel type can have for different occasions. Emphasis on rules for proper letter spacing, word spacing and the arrangement of type for maximum readability will be stressed. Students are introduced to the principles of design using a variety of media as they complete projects that emphasize various aspects of composition.

Nossi College of Art & Design was started by an artist, Ms. Nossi, and for nearly half a century, it has been where future artists in Nashville have found a home. Success Strategies is a course in goal setting, techniques of note and test taking, problem solving skills, time management and critical thinking skill development. In addition, students will acquire skills necessary to succeed as commercial artists. This course is designed to provide the student with instruction in two major areas of the English language – writing and oral communication skills.
With All Access, your classroom might be a concert venue, a fashion show, a production studio, a print shop or a music festival. Our students get insider access to these local events, and work with real creative professionals to design promotional materials and build a portfolio filled with awesome work. Otis College offers undergraduate degrees in a wide variety of visual and applied arts, media, and design.
